New ownership begins building the property's management team, strengthening operations and developing a focused leasing strategy
HORSEHEADS, N.Y., August 5, 2026 As part of the transition, Kohan is establishing a new management structure at the property, including promoting Arnot Mall's operations director into a broader property leadership role. We're deploying additional management and operational staff from across the Kohan portfolio to the mall to assist with the transition and strengthen day-to-day operations.
"Arnot Mall has a long history in the Southern Tier, and we understand the role it plays for the people who shop, work, and operate businesses here," said Mike Kohan, Principal of Kohan Retail Investment Group. "Our first responsibility is to establish strong leadership at the property; support the team on the ground and make sure they have the people and resources needed to operate the mall successfully."
Arnot Mall has served the region for decades as a destination for shopping, dining, services, employment, and community activity. Kohan's initial focus will be on operational continuity, tenant communication, property conditions, and building a management team that can respond effectively to the mall's immediate and long-term needs.
The company will also begin evaluating the mall's tenant mix, available spaces, and leasing opportunities. We'll focus on retaining and supporting existing tenants while pursuing local businesses, regional concepts, national retailers, entertainment, dining, services, and other uses that reflect how the Southern Tier community shops and gathers today.
"Leasing is not simply about filling space," Kohan said. "It is about finding the right uses, supporting the businesses already here and building a tenant mix that gives people more reasons to return to the property."
"We are not coming in with a list of sweeping promises," Kohan added. "We are coming in ready to work. That means listening to tenants, supporting employees, addressing operational priorities, and creating a clear path forward as Arnot Mall becomes part of the Kohan portfolio."
During the coming weeks, company representatives and the new property leadership team will meet with tenants, vendors, employees, local officials, and community partners. We'll share additional updates as the transition progresses, and the property's operational and leasing priorities are established.
